Cross Country: Minnewaska girls take second place at Marv Meyer Invite – Alexandria Echo Press

The Minnewaska and West Central Area cross country teams competed in the Marv Meyer Invite in Morris on Monday.

The Lakers girls finished second as a team with 39 points and the boys finished fifth with 96 points. Sauk Centre won the boys meet with 34 points and New London-Spicer won the girls meet with 26 points.

In a race with 60 participants, three of the Minnewaska girls finished in the top 10: Lauryn Ankeny (4th, 21:21), Nori Song (5th, 21:24) and Maia Larson (10th, 22:00). Kyla Vick (NL-S) won the race with a time of 20:38.

Ian Mills (6th, 17:58) was the Lakers’ only top-10 finisher on the boys’ side in a race with 65 competitors. Jacob Drevlow (Sauk Centre) won the race with a time of 16:33.

None of the WCA teams had enough participants to qualify for a team score, but the Knights’ boys were led by Carter Kjesbo, who took second place with a time of 16:58, and the girls were led by Nora Anderson, who took 25th place with a time of 23:38.
