After a season-long break marked largely by inactivity and the retirement of CeeDee Lamb, the Dallas Cowboys will begin the 2024 season against another team that made the playoffs last year, the Cleveland Browns.
This game marks the debut of 2024 quarterbacks Dak Prescott and DeShaun Watson, who sat out the preseason.
The Browns are favored by 2.5 points, which is about the value of home field advantage, so this is a battle of two evenly matched teams.
New contract for Dak Prescott
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys agreed to a record four-year, $240 million contract on Sunday, according to multiple reports, making the passer the highest-paid player in NFL history. As the league’s first player to make $60 million a year, Prescott surpassed Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers, who all agreed to contract extensions worth an average annual value of $55 million.
Prescott’s new contract includes $231 million guaranteed, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
