Zetova has won numerous accolades in her impressive playing career, including several national championship and cup titles in Bulgaria, Italy and Turkey, as well as four continental club trophies in Europe, most notably the 2006 CEV Champions League title with Italian team Colussi Sirio Perugia. She was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2001 CEV European Championship after leading the Bulgarian team to the bronze medals.

Zetova has also excelled in her career as a volleyball coach. In 2017, she led Bulgaria to a bronze medal at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U23 World Championship and just last month she led her team to the title at the 2024 CEV U18 European Championship, Bulgaria’s first continental age group title in women’s volleyball.

Daniel is very wise about the fact that he is the son of a true volleyball legend.

“I think that’s a big plus because I get helpful tips for my game and can always ask a person who has already played at a very high level about their experiences,” says the 2.05 meter tall volleyball player.

From the mother’s point of view, the situation seems to be somewhat more difficult.

“If we compare what is harder – being a player, a coach or a mother of a child competing on the court – the latter is perhaps the hardest because you are watching from the outside, you are worried and at the same time you want to help in many ways, but you just have to hope that he plays well,” Zetova told the FIVB.
