Danvers tobacco shop burglary – NBC Boston

Danvers tobacco shop burglary – NBC Boston

Early Sunday morning, tobacco shops in Danvers and Saugus, Massachusetts, were the victims of lightning burglaries.

The robberies at the City Smoke Shop in Danvers and the Vapor Zone in Saugus occurred 30 minutes apart.

The owner of City Smoke Shop told NBC10 Boston that three masked men drove a car into the building on Route 114 shortly after 5 a.m., took everything they could and then fled.

Shattered glass was visible all over the ground where the vehicle crashed into the store, the door was kicked in, and parts of the brick wall broke apart. The vehicle involved was later found at a DoubleTree hotel.

The tobacco shop owner says he has never experienced anything like this in the six years he has been running the business.

“Cigarettes and tobacco, that’s all. They drove in to get cigarettes and tobacco, the madman,” he said.

“Just get a job,” Keli Rossi said. “You don’t have to go out and steal things, let alone just drive your car into them. There’s no need for that.”

About 30 minutes after the City Smoke Shop robbery, thieves broke into the Vapor Zone in Saugus with a car jack at around 5:30 a.m.

A surveillance video shows three young people taking tobacco products, causing the company around $7,000 in damages.

The store owner spoke to NBC10 Boston in December, when the store was last robbed.

It was not immediately clear if any arrests were made in the incidents or if the two are connected. NBC10 Boston has reached out to police for more information but has not yet received a response.
