Davante Adams denies DeSean Jackson’s claim he’s unhappy with the Raiders | Raiders News

Raiders star Davante Adams fired back Wednesday at former NFL receiver DeSean Jackson’s recent claims that Adams was unhappy with the organization.

“Whatever has come out recently is complete nonsense,” Adams said. “I’ve never spoken to DeSean Jackson about anything, so I don’t know why (he would say that). I haven’t seen the interview, so I don’t know if it’s even a real quote, but as far as my anger or dissatisfaction with this organization, it’s all just a bunch of nonsense designed to confuse everyone and create clickbait.”

“If I was mad, I wouldn’t be here right now. Whatever I say is what I say. And I don’t think you’re standing here in front of me feeling like I want to leave this place, and if you do that, you’re just giving in to the (expletive) that they’re feeding you, and that’s not reality.”

Adams said he only met Jackson a few times. Jackson played for the Raiders in 2021, a year before the team signed Adams.

Adams said the two never had a deep conversation that would have given Jackson insight into his current mental state.

“I’ve never spoken to him about anything like that,” Adams said. “The only person I ever really talk to about my feelings in general is my wife, and she doesn’t leak anything and drop stuff like that in the media. Whatever you see, if it’s not firsthand, it’s probably (expletive).”

Jackson made the comments last week during an appearance on the talk show “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.” Jackson said the Raiders would have a tough season because they did not sign a franchise quarterback.

“It’s tough because Davante and I talked and I hate doing that because I don’t want to be the guy that says, ‘Oh, D-Jax said this and that,’ but at the end of the day he’s not happy,” Jackson said. “I mean, where are you supposed to take his performance this year? Do you have that much faith in (quarterback) Gardner (Minshew)? … (Adams) doesn’t really want to be in the media, freaking out and stuff like that. But you could see sometimes in the games that he gets very frustrated.”

Bowers returns

Rookie tight end Brock Bowers returned to practice on Wednesday.

“I missed being on the field with the others, so it was good to be back out there,” Bowers said. “I’m here to play football and that’s all I want to do. So it really sucked not being out there.”

Bowers, selected 13th overall in April, missed several weeks of practice because of a foot injury. Coach Antonio Pierce said Bowers’ absence was largely a precautionary measure. Pierce added that the team was in some ways protecting Bowers from himself by wanting to return too quickly.

“I like being out there, so I guess there’s some truth in that,” Bowers said, smiling.

Bowers, who was officially listed as a limited participant on the Raiders’ injury report, expects to play Sunday. He said his biggest hurdle is his conditioning.

“I’ve been training hard every day and trying to get through that part as best as I can while also trying to take care of my feet,” Bowers said. “Trying to stay in shape was probably the hardest part because you can’t run. I got on the bike and did some stuff in the pool.”

Linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, a fifth-round pick from Ohio State, also returned to practice on a limited basis on Wednesday after being sidelined for several weeks with a knee injury.

Injury report

Rookie cornerback Decamerion Richardson (hamstring) was the only other Raiders player listed as limited on Wednesday.

Offensive tackle Kolton Miller (shoulder), linebacker Robert Spillane (back), defensive lineman Tyree Wilson (foot) and long snapper Jacob Bobenmoyer (abdomen) were all present.

For the Chargers, quarterback Justin Herbert was not on the injured list despite missing more than two weeks of training camp with a foot injury. He has been practicing since August 19.

Herbert told reporters Wednesday that he was healthy but declined to comment on the details of his injury.

Wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. (hip) has not practiced for the Chargers.
