Dave Grohl was not in a chatty mood when he and his wife Jordyn Blum visited Wimbledon in London in early July.
After the Foo Fighters frontman announced earlier this week that he had recently fathered a child out of wedlock, the longtime couple’s last public appearance together attracted a lot of attention – and Grohl’s dismissive attitude towards a reporter at the tennis tournament went viral.
“Dave, can I have your prediction for the Wimbledon winner quickly, please?” a BBC sports journalist asked the 55-year-old rocker on July 2 outside the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.
“What?” Grohl replied as he walked away, whereupon the reporter followed him and repeated: “Who do you think will win Wimbledon?”
The musician apparently heard the question a second time, but still answered: “What?”
The reporter laughed uncomfortably before moving on to more specific questions.
“Who will win? And the men’s competition?” asked the journalist, to which Grohl replied: “I have no idea.”
“The women’s?” asked the reporter. “I can’t say,” replied the former Nirvana drummer before disappearing into the crowd.
Blum was at her husband’s side, but remained silent during the conversation, which was criticized by many on the Internet.
“Dave has been acting a little pissy lately,” one observer commented under a TikTok of the “embarrassing” interview.
“He looks so out of place 😂,” someone else remarked, while yet another added, “Okay Dave, you should be more polite but don’t ruin my love for you 😂.”
Another netizen argued: “I think Dave is becoming a little too much of a star in his head.”
However, when news of his baby bombshell broke, a TikTok user rewatched the video and joked, “My husband was busy worrying about someone’s water breaking.”
As they entered the event, Grohl and Blum, 48, appeared to be in good spirits but did not engage in any public displays of affection.
It is unclear when his fourth child was conceived or born; he and the former model and current MTV producer – who married in August 2003 – have two daughters: Violet Maye (18), Harper Willow (15) and Ophelia Saint (10).
“I recently became a father to a baby girl, born outside of my marriage,” the Grammy winner announced on Instagram on Tuesday.
“I plan to be a loving and supportive father to her. I love my wife and children and am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
Grohl, who did not reveal the identity of his lover, ended his message by saying he and his family were “grateful” for the public’s “consideration” toward all the children affected as they “move on together.”
Blum has not yet commented publicly on the matter.
