Dave Grohl’s daughter has withdrawn from social media.
18-year-old Violet has apparently deactivated her Instagram account after it was revealed that her 55-year-old father fathered a fourth daughter outside of his marriage.
On Tuesday, the rocker announced on Instagram that he recently had a child with a woman outside of his marriage, his wife Jordyn Blum (whom he married in 2003).
Violet’s Instagram account has been deactivated since Tuesday afternoon, but it is unclear when she closed the page.
Besides Violet, Grohl has two other daughters with his wife Blum (48), with whom he has been married for 21 years, 10-year-old Ophelia and 15-year-old Harper.
“I recently became the father of a baby girl, born outside of my marriage,” Grohl said in a statement.
“I plan to be a loving and supportive father to her. I love my wife and children and am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness,” he continued. “We are grateful for your consideration for all of the children involved as we move forward together.”
A spokesperson for Grohl told the Post that there was no further comment from the musician at this time.
At the 2023 Glastonbury Festival in June 2023, the Foo Fighters singer brought his eldest child on stage to perform a song from his band’s latest album, “But Here We Are.”
“My favorite singer in the whole world,” Grohl said as Violet stood next to him. “This is a song I wrote for my mom, Violet’s grandmother. It’s ‘Show Me How.'”
As the father-daughter duo finished the song, the artist screamed, “That’s my girl!”
“I love it when you’re on stage with your daughter and you hit the wrong note,” he joked to the audience, who burst into applause.
The former drummer and Blum tied the knot on August 2, 2003, in a ceremony at the couple’s Los Angeles home. The celebrity guest list included Clive Davis and Grohl’s former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic.
The marriage was Blum’s first and Grohl’s second. The artist was married to photographer Jennifer Youngblood. They divorced in 1997.
As a family, the couple has largely stayed out of the spotlight, but they appeared together at the 2023 Grammys and posed on the red carpet.
Blum, a former model and MTV producer, has remained silent about her marriage over the years, but Grohl has spoken openly about their love from time to time.
“Jordyn and Violet are anchors that keep me from disappearing completely,” he told the Guardian in 2007.
The icon also reflected on how his career choices changed after the birth of his children.
“I used to tour nine months of the year. Now I don’t like being away from my kids for more than 12 days,” he told TIME magazine in 2010.
“It’s changed everything I do,” Grohl added. “When you have kids, you see life differently. You feel love more deeply and you’re maybe a little more compassionate. It’s inevitable that that will find its way into songwriting.”
The news that the Foo Fighters frontman and Blum were pregnant with Violet was accidentally leaked by Grohl’s former bandmate, the late Taylor Hawkins.
“We’re going to tour Europe in January and February, but we have to be back home in March because Dave and his wife are having a baby,” Hawkins told MTV in 2006. “But I probably shouldn’t tell you that.”
Violet Maye, now one of Grohl’s four daughters, was named after the artist’s grandmother.
