Dave Grohl has largely contradicted the stereotypes of a rock star through his long-term marriage to Jordyn Blum.
The 55-year-old frontman of the Foo Fighters met 48-year-old Blum in 2001 at the Sunset Marquis Whiskey Bar on Hollywood’s famous Sunset Strip. Blum, a former model, was working as a producer at MTV at the time, according to Spin.
“When I met my wife, we went on a few dates and I decided I wasn’t ready for a serious relationship, so I just stopped calling,” Grohl later told Elle. “After three months, I had an epiphany and called her back. She picked up the phone and said, ‘Oh, I never thought I’d hear from you again.'”
The couple married in 2003 at their Los Angeles home. The wedding was reportedly attended by friends from the music industry such as producer Clive Davis and Grohl’s former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic.

Over the course of their now twenty-year relationship, Blum has inspired several songs for the Foo Fighters, including “Burn Away” (from the band’s 2002 album “One by One”) and “Statues” (from their 2007 album “Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace”).
“This song is about my wife and I,” Grohl told GQ about the latter. “For me, there’s nothing more beautiful than seeing the tombstones of a man and a woman next to each other in a cemetery.”
Blum has even collaborated with her husband on his music projects. She co-directed the music video for “Walking a Line” in 2002 and appeared in the music video for the 2011 single “White Limo.”
The couple also has three children, all daughters: Violet, born in 2006, Harper, born in 2009, and Ophelia, born in 2014.
Grohl and Blum have kept their family life private throughout their marriage, although all five members walked the red carpet together at the 2023 Grammy Awards.
On Tuesday, Grohl announced that he had become the father of a fourth daughter, “born outside of my marriage.”
“I plan to be a loving and supportive father to her,” Grohl wrote on social media. “I love my wife and children and am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We are grateful for your consideration toward all of the children affected as we move forward together.”
