Death of Rich Homie Quan: Rich gang rapper dies at home in Atlanta at the age of 34

Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan, who collaborated with Young Thug as Rich Gang, has reportedly died. He was 34 years old.

He began his career in 2011 and achieved mainstream success in 2013 with his hit “Type of Way”.

Accordingly TMZHis death was confirmed by a representative of the Fulton County morgue. His family said they were “shocked and heartbroken.”

The cause of death has yet to be announced.

Quan was born Dequantes Lamar in Atlanta, Georgia in October 1989. He attended Ronald McNair Sr High School and aspired to be a professional baseball player as a young man. His skills as a center fielder and leadoff hitter earned him a scholarship to Fort Valley State University, but he dropped out two weeks later due to the high tuition costs.

Lamar later worked at an airport, but after losing his job he became involved in burglaries and spent 15 months in prison.

After his release from prison, Lamar devoted himself to music. His 2013 single “Type of Way” brought him to wider attention and in 2015 he had another hit with “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)”.

By this time, he had also teamed up with Cash Money Records founder Birdman and fellow rapper Young Thug as Rich Gang, and they had their own hit, “Lifestyle,” in 2014.

In November 2016, Lamar sued his former label Think It’s A Game for $2 million over alleged unpaid royalties. The label then sued him for breach of contract, and both lawsuits were eventually settled out of court.

In 2018, Lamar released his debut studio album Rich as in spirit.

Fellow rapper Playboi Carti paid tribute to him by posting several pictures and videos of Lamar in his Instagram stories.
