Deion Sanders Announces “Colorado Home” Nike Air DT Max ’96 Release on Labor Day Weekend

As anticipation for the college football season builds, so does the excitement for the latest sneakers from Deion Sanders’ signature Nike line. As the Colorado Buffaloes prepare for their season opener against North Dakota State, Sanders previewed the new colorway that pays homage to his team’s iconic home uniforms. Taking to social media, Sanders revealed his retro Nike sneakers, which fans have dubbed the “Colorado Home” edition of the Nike Air DT Max 96.

The sneakers feature a striking black upper accented by metallic gold spikes and Prime branding that perfectly reflects the Buffaloes’ black and gold color scheme. Completing the design is a sturdy black and gold rubber outsole that gives the shoe a bold, wild look. While Nike has yet to confirm an official release date, reports suggest that the latest Air DT Max 96 will drop on Labor Day weekend. It will drop a few days after CU’s home opener.

This version of the Diamond Turf will reportedly retail for $170 and will be available in adult sizing through the Nike SNKRS app and at select retailers. However, fans eager to snag a pair will face stiff competition. Nike strategically released Sanders’ retro sneakers in limited quantities, creating high demand and ensuring they sold out quickly both online and in stores.

Deion Sanders’ return to Nike goes beyond the relationship with Colorado

Known for his larger-than-life personality, Sanders has brought immense star power to Colorado’s football program, creating the “Prime Effect” in Boulder. His influence extends beyond the field, as his rejuvenated retro sneaker line has garnered endorsements from big-name figures like LeBron James, Lil Wayne and more.

The second season with Sanders at the helm begins in less than two weeks. Colorado opens the 2024 season on Thursday, August 29, at Folsom Field against FCS powerhouse North Dakota State.
