It was a chaotic final spurt in Boulder, the fans stormed the field to celebrate ColoradoVictory against Baylor during a review before leaving the field and storming again as soon as the review ended the game. This prompted the head coach Deion Sanders apologize to Dave Aranda from Baylor.
Sanders said in his post-match press conference that he wanted to shake Aranda’s hand, but the storm on the field made that impossible, so he regrets that it didn’t happen.

“I want to apologize to the opponent,” said Deion Sanders. “The way we stormed the field, I didn’t get a chance to shake the head coach’s hand. But I tried to go to the locker room and wait for him to come out. But I don’t think they told him because that’s unprofessional. I wanted to shake his hand and thank him.”
Baylor seemed to have almost won the game itself before the quarterback Shedeur Sanders combined with a Hail Mary to force an overtime. Once in overtime, Travis Hunter managed to force a fumble that went into the back of the end zone and secured the win.

The win was Colorado’s first as a Big 12 school after rejoining the conference this season. For many fans of the Colorado program, that context only heightened the emotion of the victory.
“I don’t like what happened at the end of the game, but I love what happened at the end of the game. We have a phenomenal fan base,” Sanders said. “We have some young kids on this campus that love and live CU football. I’m grateful. I walk across campus every day and they give us so much love, respect and honor.”
For Colorado, the win meant the Buffaloes are now 3-1 on the season, just one win less than last season. Baylor, on the other hand, fell to 2-2 with signs of improvement in 2023, but also suffered a frustrating loss.

On Sunday after Colorado’s win over Baylor, analyst Paul Finebaum praised the Buffaloes for their incredibly exciting victory.
“We’re not talking about a football team here. We’re talking about a real reality show here. Move over, ‘Golden Bachelor.’ I mean, it’s the most exciting thing on television right now. And it’s been that way since Coach Prime got here, by the way. But I don’t think we’ve seen anything in all the drama that comes anywhere close to what happened last night,” Finebaum said.
“I mean, this was made for Hollywood. It’s hard to believe. I mean, the odds of Colorado winning the game were less than 1% on the last play, and they still did it. But then again, Coach Prime is in charge.”
Next, Deion Sanders and Colorado will begin Big 12 play with an away game against the UCF Knights.
