When cycling shorts came back into style thanks to celebs like Kim Kardashian and Gigi Hadid, I was hesitant to add them to my wardrobe. Now that they’ve been in the spotlight for a few seasons, it’s only natural that their influence has spread to other areas of the fashion world.

Denim is constantly changing and evolving to meet current trends, and this season the longer length and tailored silhouette of the cycling shorts seems to have permeated the latest denim styles. I’m a jeans and t-shirt guy, and now that Bermuda shorts are back in style after a long hiatus, I’ve started to rethink my stance on the cycling shorts debate.

I’m jumping on the Bermuda shorts trend because they offer a cozier alternative to denim shorts that’s both comfortable and stylish. There’s something refreshing about the above-the-knee length after years of wearing short shorts, and I for one am excited to add them back into my wardrobe.

This summer, I paired my own pair of denim Bermuda shorts (this currently sold-out pair from Aritzia) with a crisp white button-down shirt and strappy sandals for a dressy take on this trend, or with a simple printed t-shirt for a casual weekend look.

While it’s not yet clear whether this is the start of a true fashion comeback or just a short-lived fad that influencers and fashion enthusiasts will move on from in a few months, I plan on wearing mine as often as possible until the weather cools down.
