DeSantis allocates .8 million to support Space Coast Airport roads

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Thursday that the state is providing $5.8 million to the Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority to support road infrastructure.

Funding from the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund would create a direct connection from the Space Coast Innovation Park to the Space Coast Regional Airport by building a 3,200-foot road, DeSantis said.

The governor estimates that this will create more than 900 jobs for residents of the Space Coast region.

“Florida is the space capital of the country,” DeSantis said. “Titusville and surrounding communities will benefit from these sought-after, well-paying jobs that will contribute to a stronger economy for families along the Space Coast.”

The Space Coast Innovation Park is a center for aerospace and defense manufacturing, logistics and operations, according to its website. The three-phase development project is located directly across from the airport on Grissom Parkway and is less than 10 miles from the Kennedy Space Center’s Vehicle Assembly Building and near Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

According to a press release from the governor’s office, the space park will house up to seven commercial buildings with 1.4 million square feet of industrial space. The project is expected to have a positive fiscal impact of over $24.6 million.
