Din Tai Fung, a world-renowned Chinese restaurant known for its xiao long bao, has signed a lease to open its first Arizona location at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

The restaurant’s original location in Taiwan has been awarded multiple Michelin stars and is currently listed under the Bib Gourmand designation, which is given to restaurants that offer high-quality food at affordable prices.

The signing was announced in a conference call on July 31 by Macerich, the real estate company that owns Scottsdale Fashion Square. From there, rumors began to spread on TikTok.

Why is Din Tai Fung famous?

Din Tai Fung’s signature dish is Xiao Long Bao, broth-filled dumplings steamed in a bamboo basket. They are filled with pork, crab or chicken.

Other menu offerings include wontons, pot stickers with shrimp and kurobuta pork, beef fillet with black pepper, noodle soups and wok-fried rice dishes.

One TikTok user commented: “OMG I’m so excited.” Another wrote: “(I know) where every first date will take me now!”

Din Tai Fung has additional locations in the USA, in California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada and New York.

According to the conference call, Din Tai Fung is scheduled to open in Scottsdale in early 2025.

Why doesn’t Phoenix have any Michelin stars? It’s complicated. And could change
