Divers search pond in Maplewood Park for evidence related to mass shooting

ROCHESTER, NY — Nearly two weeks have passed since the mass shooting during a barbecue in a Rochester park — and no one has been charged.

Rochester police have continued their search for underwater evidence.

About a dozen members of the city’s dive team were out Thursday searching for evidence in the pond on Maplewood Drive.

On July 28, the park went from being a peaceful barbecue with hundreds of visitors to being the scene of a tragedy. Multiple gunmen fired over 42 shots while people ran for their lives.

Two women died. Five others were injured.

Police are urgently looking for suspects and have released pictures of three men they say they need to speak to.

She declined to say whether police found anything significant in the pond, but a department spokesperson told News10NBC that investigators are receiving a lot of support from the public and hope that continues.
