Dodgers place starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow on the injured list

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Friday that starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow has been placed on the injured list due to tendinitis in his right elbow, the latest injury blow for the NL heavyweight.

For the 31-year-old Glasnow, who previously had to sit out some time due to back problems, it is the second trip to the IL this season.

Glasnow was an All-Star for the first time this season but has started just five times since early July. Meanwhile, the Dodgers’ lead in the NL West, once 8½ games, has shrunk to two games in just over three weeks as the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres have entered the contest.

To make up for the loss of Glasnow, the Dodgers brought back left-handed pitcher Justin Wrobleski from the minor leagues and started him on Friday night against the St. Louis Cardinals.

It was Wrobleski’s fifth start of the season with the Dodgers and he entered Friday night with a 4.05 ERA in 20 innings.
