Shana reported that Iran’s Petropars has begun drilling three infill wells in the South Pars gas field, which Iran shares with Qatar in the Persian Gulf.

As reported, work began after the installation of the drilling rig at the site of the SPQ1 gas platform on the water border between Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf.

Back in July, Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), which is responsible for developing the South Pars gas field, announced the start of a project to drill 35 new wells in the field to increase and maintain gas production.

POGC has also signed several contracts with domestic companies to carry out drilling operations in the form of four project packages.

The subcontractors of the drilling project are Pasargad, Petropars, Petro Iran and Shomal Drilling.

The duration of the project contract is three years and the investment required to implement this project is estimated at $1.2 billion.

The mega projects will not only contribute to the development of the country’s gas industry and economy, but will also create jobs and strengthen domestic capacities.
