Reed Blankenship gave the Philadelphia Eagles a 15-12 win when he intercepted a pass from New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr with 55 seconds left in their Week 3 game.

The Eagles were naturally motivated after their comeback victory at the Superdome, celebrating a win in which they scored 15 of their points in the fourth quarter.

Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter, however, took the celebration too far. Carter, a second-year guard, appeared to give several Saints players, including veteran defensive backs Marshon Lattimore and Tyrann Mathieu, a thumbs down as they entered the field. The gesture angered Mathieu, who yelled from the Eagles sideline.

Meanwhile, Carter began walking along the sidelines, causing the New Orleans crowd to become louder, prompting coach Nick Sirianni, defensive line coach Clint Hurtt and head security Dom DiSandro to step in and restrain Carter.

Fox cameras captured most of the dialogue at the end of the broadcast.

Sirianni was not asked after the contest about his exchange with Carter at the end of the game, but that did not seem to cloud his opinion of the second-year tackler’s performance on Sunday.

Sirianni raved about the preparation Carter and opposite number Jordan Davis put in before the game against the Saints, believing their efforts paid off after they limited a high-powered New Orleans offense to 12 points.

“Jalen Carter worked his ass off,” Sirianni told reporters.

It’s hard to argue with Sirianni’s assessment. Carter collected four tackles, two TFLs and two pass defenses while terrorizing the Saints, who had to rely on backup center Lucas Patrick after an injury to starter Erik McCoy early in the game.

Although Sirianni might have preferred Carter to avoid his postgame altercation with Mathieu and the Saints fans, it ultimately had no negative impact on the Eagles during their second win of the season.
