Eagles vs. Saints: Game preview and predictions for week 3

Eagles vs. Saints: Game preview and predictions for week 3

Not that I want to undermine my predictive ability right away…but…to do just that…I’m 0-2 at predicting Philadelphia Eagles games this season.

So maybe you should feel good about me predicting that the Eagles will lose their Week 3 game against the New Orleans Saints.

This is a tough situation for the Birds, coming off a short week and once again without AJ Brown against a team that has outscored its opponents by a total of 62 points this season.

The Saints are likely to face some Degree of decline after such a good start. But here’s the problem: The Eagles defense hasn’t been able to effectively stop the run or pressure the passer. By my calculations, that’s a pretty poor combination. And I’m not so optimistic that will change anytime soon. The Saints offensive line squashed the Dallas Cowboys defense last weekend. How could I be surprised if that happens again here? It looks like Alvin Kamara is ready for another big game.

The best reason to believe in the Eagles is that the NFL is strange and unpredictable. Maybe Jalen Hurts continues his success against Dennis Allen’s (2-0) defense. Maybe Taysom Hill’s absence limits Klint Kubiak’s creativity. Maybe the Saints are a little too high on their own offer and are taking the Eagles lightly.

I don’t think the Eagles tilt win. The fact that they are only 2.5 points behind seems to indicate that the game will be more exciting than many (including myself) expect.

I just go back to the fact that I have a hard time believing in the defense, but maybe the offense can lead the team to victory in the shootout.
