Eagles WR AJ Brown (thigh) demoted and eliminated for Monday Night Football vs. Falcons

After suffering an injury during the week, the Philadelphia Eagles’ No. 1 wide receiver will not be available for Week 2.

AJ Brown, who was initially considered questionable due to a thigh injury, was downgraded to “out” on Sunday and will not play in the Eagles’ game. Monday Night Football game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Brown was placed on the injured list on Friday after head coach Nick Sirianni revealed the next day that he felt tightness in his hamstring during Friday’s practice and they wanted to be cautious with their star wideout. Brown was listed as a limited participant that day before being downgraded to a DNP for Saturday’s practice.

In the end, the precautions were not enough, as Brown’s injury prevented him from sharing the field with his teammates. It is the first time he has missed a regular season game since coming to Philly.

Although the Eagles have other receiver options available with Jalen Hurts’ prospect DeVonta Smith, Brown will be sorely missed, especially given his strong performance in Week 1.

In the season-opening win over the Packers last Friday, Brown led the Eagles with 119 receiving yards on five catches, with Hurts’ 67-yard touchdown throw being the highlight.

Since joining the Eagles in 2022, Brown has not missed a single regular-season game and led the team with over 1,400 receiving yards for two consecutive years, earning him two Pro Bowl nominations and a new three-year, $96 million contract extension in April.

But now Brown will have to wait at least a week to repeat his dominant performance from Week 1, and the Eagles will have to host the Falcons in prime time without their WR1.

Kickoff is scheduled for Monday evening at 8:15 p.m. ET.
