A farm is recalling two brands of eggs after 65 people in nine states became ill with salmonella poisoning.

Wisconsin-based Milo’s Poultry Farms LLC is recalling eggs under the Milo’s Poultry Farms and Tony’s Fresh Market brands due to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened people in the United States.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 24 of these people were hospitalized and no deaths occurred.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall includes all cartons labeled “Milo’s Poultry Farms” and “Tony’s Fresh Market” with all expiration dates.

The eggs were distributed to restaurants and stores in Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin, but the outbreak also spread to the states of Iowa, Colorado, California, Utah, Minnesota and Virginia.

The CDC is urging people to throw away or return eggs from the recalled brands. The agency is also asking those who had the recalled eggs in their possession to clean objects and surfaces that came into contact with the contaminated product.

Anyone with concerns or questions is asked to call Milo’s Poultry Farms at (715) 758-6709.
