Egypt and Copelouzos Group explore possible cooperation in oil and gas sector

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Dimitrios Copelouzos, Chairman of the Greek Copelouzos Group, and Ioannis Karydas, CEO of the Renewable Energy, Energy Storage and Interconnection Group.

The meeting The focus was on potential areas of cooperation and investment opportunities in the oil sector, as well as opportunities for cooperation in various areas related to natural gas and infrastructure.

During the meeting, Badawi stressed that the oil and gas sector is currently conducting an intensive research and exploration program aimed at new discoveries. These efforts are intended to increase production and reserves while developing existing discoveries to meet local market demand and reduce dependence on imports.

Badawi stressed the importance of cooperation and partnership with international companies to participate and invest in oil projects, which would benefit everyone.

In addition, Badawi added that Egypt is a strong Infrastructure and outstanding capabilities that enable it to strengthen its position as a regional energy centre in the region and highlights that work is currently underway to highlight the investment opportunities available in the petroleum sector in order to achieve the objectives of securing and diversifying energy resources.

Copelouzos stressed that the group intends to participate in all new tenders in Egypt in the coming period, adding that the electricity interconnection project between Egypt and the European Union is one of the most important projects currently being implemented in Europe.
