Elizabeth Debicki from “The Crown” imitated Princess Diana on the Emmys red carpet

Elizabeth Debicki has arrived at the Emmys and the star looks more spectacular than ever in an enviably timeless black dress by Dior.

Featuring a simple, square crew neckline highlighted by dangling De Beers earrings, her ensemble is reminiscent of the classic elegance that characterized the late Princess Diana – whom Debicki wore in the final seasons of The crown. Diana herself, of course, also became a style icon because she knew her way around the little black dress – perhaps most notorious was the daring “revenge dress” she wore the night then-Prince Charles admitted his affair with Camilla on television.

Debicki is nominated tonight in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category for her portrayal of the iconic royal, the same nomination she received for her work on the series at the 2023 Emmys, which were held earlier this year after delays last fall due to writers’ and actors’ strikes.

When her nomination for 2024 was announced, Debicki revealed: “I miss playing this role.” She also said Deadline“I realized that the work we’ve done on this show really brings people close to their own memories, and that’s something really unique where you feel like you’re part of it and also a witness to it… I’ve seen people get quite emotional and then it usually ends with someone saying, ‘Can I give you a hug?’ It’s really beautiful and very moving.”

The Crown received a total of 18 Emmy nominations this year – including for best drama and nominations for best actress Dominic West, Imelda Staunton, Lesley Manville, Jonathan Pryce, Claire Foy and Debicki. In its six seasons, the series has received 87 Emmy nominations and 21 awards.
