Emergency services fight house fire in White Hall

WHITE HALL, W.Va. (WDTV) – Emergency crews responded to a fire in White Hall Monday evening.

According to the Valley Volunteer Fire Department, the fire was reported around 8:40 p.m. at a home near Casseday Court.

The fire reportedly started in an outbuilding next to the house. Within four minutes of being dispatched, firefighters found an outbuilding fully engulfed in flames, with the house affected.

The outbuilding was used to reload ammunition, officials said.

Eventually, the fire made its way into the home and crews were able to locate the fire’s source in the ceiling. Firefighters immediately began tearing down the plaster ceiling and found an active fire racing through the roof and trusses, officials said.

After opening the roof, the fire was brought under control.

White Hall, Boothsville, Monongah and Winfield fire departments assisted Valley at the scene, and Marion County EMS stood by. White Hall police also assisted by entering the home while the fire was still burning in the outbuilding to make sure no one was inside and closing the doors to contain the fire, officials said.

No one was injured in the incident.
