Eminem lands a new top 10 hit with a rap legend

Eminem is still promoting his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)which was released in July. The project’s current single, “Somebody Save Me” featuring Jelly Roll, is working its way up certain rankings as radio picks up the cut. The hip-hop powerhouse has also announced that a new deluxe release of the track, titled “Expanded Mourner’s Edition,” will be released in a few days.

While focusing on his latest project, Eminem also manages to score a new hit single, as a guest artist on a song fronted by one of the most popular names in hip-hop history – one that hasn’t been heard from in a long time.

LL Cool J has returned to the music scene after a long break. The rapper has released his new album The power on September 6, his first proper full-length album in over a decade. Now, one of the tracks from that set quickly became a success, thanks in part to Eminem’s inclusion.

The two artists worked together on “Murdergram Deux,” the latest single from The power. The track begins with a pair Billboard This week both achieved a quick top 10 success.

“Murdergram Deux” starts at the top of the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, where it debuts at No. 6. On the closely related Rap Digital Song Sales chart, it curiously starts just one notch lower, at No. 7.

Eminem earns his 65th top 10 hit on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart this year. He’s racked up even more best-sellers on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart, as he’s now brought 73 songs into the competitive section (in a chart that only includes 10 spots).

LL Cool J, meanwhile, hasn’t had as many wins as Eminem. In fact, he’s new to the top 10 on both charts. Previously, he’d only sent singles to the two lower-ranking lists – which no longer exist, as the rankings were cut years ago to reflect declining sales in the American music industry.
