Eminem reminded the 2024 MTV VMAs of his name.

On Wednesday, September 11, the 51-year-old “Without Me” musician opened the awards ceremony at New York’s UBS Arena with a high-energy performance of “Houdini.” He also performed the Jelly Roll-assisted “Somebody Save Me.”

Eminem opened the performance with “Houdini” and, like many other people on stage around the rapper, wore a Slim Shady wig, in reference to the music video for the song.

He then took off the wig, put on a black baseball cap and rapped “Somebody Save Me” while video footage of Jelly Roll (who was not present) singing the chorus appeared on screens around the stage.

At the performance, Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, presented material from his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), his television debut.
