SOUTH GREENSBURG, Pa. (KDKA) – A woman is accused of stealing $100,000 worth of lottery tickets from the Westmoreland County pizzeria where she worked.

Kimberly Morris was charged with theft and receiving stolen goods after Westmoreland County detectives said she pocketed lottery tickets from the machine at Falbo’s Pizzeria in South Greensburg.

The owner of the pizzeria learned of irregularities with her lottery machine in 2019. According to authorities, Morris was responsible for supervising that machine from 2018 to 2020, working a shift during which she was unsupervised.

The victim told investigators that her lottery machine was showing losses on instant win tickets ranging from several hundred to several thousand dollars per week. Upon reviewing bank statements from the pizzeria’s lottery account, investigators found that the owner had deposited more than $102,000 of her own funds into the account to cover the loss.

Morris explained to detectives that as the machine’s administrator, she was able to participate in the instant games without paying for the tickets.

She was tried and released on parole.
