An employee at Washington-Warren Airport was injured over the weekend when a business jet veered off the runway and caught fire after landing at the airport, officials confirmed.

The employee suffered minor burns and a broken arm. A pilot and co-pilot were the only passengers on the jet; they were not injured, according to Washington city and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials.

The pilot and co-pilot were traveling from Dallas, Texas, Washington City Manager Jonathan Russell said. According to flightaware.com, the plane landed at Goldsboro Airport at 4:24 p.m. The trip to Washington-Warren Airport was expected to take 15 minutes and land there at 4:39 p.m.

The jet was a 2008 Cessna Citation business jet valued at $7.3 million. The owner is listed as BJR Management, LLC, located at 301 N Oak Forest Road in Goldsboro.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the accident.

There are currently no signs of significant damage to the airport, Russell said, adding that the runway will continue to be inspected during the cleanup.
