England 2-0 Finland: Harry Kane scores two goals in his 100th game and the Three Lions win

Kane used the night of his 100th international match to remind everyone of his quality after a difficult summer at the 2024 European Championships in Germany.

The 31-year-old was a shadow of the striker who is England’s all-time record goalscorer and produced a series of laborious and lackluster performances at Euro 2024, appearing to be out of shape and unable to move forward.

Here at Wembley, the Bayern Munich striker posed a threat throughout against a mediocre but well-organised opposition. Only Hradecky stood between the English league leaders and the goal they so desperately wanted.

In the end, Kane emerged victorious in this increasingly personal battle, scoring two important goals in impressive fashion.

It was a poignant evening and a night of celebration at Wembley Stadium. Tributes were paid to the recently deceased former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson before Kane received his gold cap from Frank Lampard and a bouquet of flowers from Finland captain Hradecky.

Kane was well aware of the justified criticism he faced after such a poor European Championship, but his two goals here took his tally to 68 goals in 100 appearances for England and proved that he can still be an impressive player in the post-Gareth Southgate era.
