Entrepreneurs get into debt after Kendrick Lamar filmed “Not Like Us”

Kendrick Lamar is being criticized by several business owners who lost money during the filming of “Not Like Us.” According to the LA TimesCompton-based business owners Lamar and PG Lang blame their financial losses. Corina Plesant, the owner of Alma’s Place, tells the Just on the day of the shoot, there were few to no customers. She also says the parking lot – which is shared with other nearby businesses – was flooded with residents looking for a shot for the video.

Pleasant claims she and several other local businesses lost thousands. As a small business owner, every dollar is important, she says. “It was really disheartening to be out of electricity and gas.” Pleasant continues, “I’m just running everything and not making any money. I was literally there for nothing because the little money I was making was to pay my employees.”

She also blames city officials for their lack of information. The owner of Alma’s Place said if she had received notification, she could have closed the store for the day. Pleasant claims to have lost between $1,800 and $2,200 that day. Just reported. A city representative for Compton said in a statement that small businesses are the “backbone of the city.” He added, “We want to continue to maintain an open line of communication and do everything we can to support economic growth.”

Kendrick Lamar releases new track “Untitled”

In other news, Kendrick Lamar surprises fans with the release of new track “Untitled”. The song is his first release after the release of his hit single “Not Like Us”. It hit No. 1 upon its release and has been gaining momentum with each passing day. The new song could be a hint as to what his rumored next album will focus on, with one line in particular standing out: “Just gone that man down, that’ll do everyone a solid / It’s love but tough love, sometimes you gotta result in violence.”
