Eufy Clean X8 Pro with suction station in the test: Does it find its way around well?

The navigation capabilities of the Eufy Clean X8 Pro are, by and large, exceptional. The first mapping run the robot has to perform is quick and efficient. The X8 managed to scan my entire 64 m² ground floor layout in four minutes. It doesn’t need to go into every corner to do this, but since it uses LiDAR to scan the rooms as it passes through, you can configure no-go areas before the robot reaches them.

You can then divide the floor plan into rooms as desired and begin the first proper cleaning run. This takes place at a very comfortable speed of around 55 seconds per square meter.

Eufy_Clean_X8_Pro-time_per_square_meterI found the robot to be very respectful of furniture, as it generally approached obstacles such as chair and table legs gently and avoided them without too much impact. It even avoided hanging curtains without having to bump into them. It also found its way around a complicated floor plan without any difficulty.

Overcoming obstacles is also no problem. He climbs up thicker mats and raised thresholds without any problem. The only thing he can’t do is recognize and avoid fallen obstacles. I put a charging cable, a sock and the excrement from a joke shop in his path and he didn’t try to avoid any of them.

Eufy Clean X8 Pro with suction station in the test: How well does it clean?

When it comes to vacuuming, the Eufy Clean X8 Pro proves to be absolutely capable. Picking up rice was its greatest trick, as it was able to catch 99% of the spills I measured on hard floors and 96% on carpets, which is above average in both tests.

It also did an above-average job of picking up flour from carpets, picking up 57% of this problematic powder. It picked up 81% from hard floors, which sounds better, but the average for other robot vacuums is a bit higher.

Eufy_Clean_X8_Pro-Percentage_of_Spills_CleanedThe X8 stumbled when it came to picking up pet hair, however. On hard floors, it picked up about 70% of the dog hair we dropped, with the rest being pushed aside or left hanging in the wrong places on the robot. It struggled even harder on carpets, where it only managed to pick up 59%. Both results are below the average for all Robot vacuum cleaner we have tested it so far.

When it came to mopping, I didn’t have high expectations due to the robot’s simple mopping method. In previous tests, I found it not to be as effective as the rotating pads found on more expensive robots.

However, I was very pleasantly surprised. I poured spilled tomato ketchup, currant squash and garden mud onto my floor and let it dry. Then I used the area cleaning setting in the app to send the robot to where the messes were.

The mud and pumpkin were wiped away in a single pass. This is not unusual with some mud, but usually there is dried pumpkin residue left around the edges that is not usually removed in one pass, even with rotating mop pads. The ketchup was removed in three passes. This is also unusual and in line with the performance of the more expensive Eufy Clean X9 Pro.
