PADUCAH – Evergreens plant shop, coffeehouse and wine bar celebrated its grand opening Friday on Alben Barkley Drive in Paducah, selling tea, coffee, plants, wine and groceries.
Jean Alford and her husband are the owners of the new store and she said the business was born out of passion.

“I love coffee, plants and wine,” Alford said. “I eventually got a gardening license. I was at the farmers market and growing plants indoors and outdoors, and I was constantly bugging my husband, ‘Let’s just put up a little greenhouse, a coffee cart.'”
When he suggested opening a café, wine bar and plant shop, she was ready to take the plunge.
“We’re both huge coffee lovers and we just knew we wanted to do something and it was the right time,” Alford said.
Alford is proud to source its products almost exclusively from small businesses.

“It’s so exciting,” she said, wishing her husband wasn’t at work. “You want to see your vision come to life and for people to enjoy it. And seeing it happen is very satisfying.”
The store is open Monday to Saturday and opens at 6:00 a.m. daily. It closes at 6:00 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, 9:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 11:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
