Everything about Arch Manning’s father Cooper, the brother of Peyton and Eli Manning

University of Texas quarterback Arch Manning takes center stage and his legacy is clear to see.

The 19-year-old redshirt freshman will make his collegiate debut for No. 1 Texas against Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 21, replacing injured quarterback Quinn Ewers. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

Arch Manning is the highly touted nephew of former NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning and the son of “The Manning Hour” host Cooper Manning. He is also the grandson of Archie Manning, an Ole Miss legend and former New Orleans Saints quarterback.

Arch Manning’s inherited athletic prowess was on full display last weekend when the Longhorns beat the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners 56-7.

After starting quarterback Ewers ended up on the sidelines with an abdominal strain, Arch Manning stepped in and scored a 67-yard touchdown. The run was the longest by any Longhorn quarterback since 2005.

His impressive speed also made headlines. Arch Manning reached a top speed of 20.7 miles per hour, Bleacher Report reported, citing Reel Analytics and Next Gen Stats.

To put this in perspective, the source calculated that Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill’s top speed this season was 20.3 mph.

As Arch Manning begins to make a name for himself in the sport, he joins a family of professionals who have already established themselves as some of the best.

Here you can find out everything about his father, Cooper Manning.

Cooper Manning’s health prevented him from playing football

He was an all-state wide receiver in high school and was preparing to play at the University of Mississippi when he began to experience numbness in his hands and fingers, according to a 2013 Bleacher Report article.

After tests at the Mayo Clinic, he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal canal, at age 18, the outlet reported. According to the Mayo Clinic, this condition puts pressure on the spinal cord.

The injury eventually led him to give up the sport.

“When they took the football away from me, I never took it out on the game. I was never bitter, really. I just said, these are the cards I’ve been dealt and I’m going to play them. I don’t know if I’ve got it down yet, but I enjoy trying,” Cooper Manning told USA Today in 2008.
