Everything Apple has revealed so far at the iPhone 16 launch event

September is here and, like clockwork, the annual iPhone event is upon us. Apple is expected to unveil its latest iPhone models, which are expected to be the iPhone 16 series, at an event in Cupertino today. We’re also expecting new Apple Watches and new AirPods, and will hear more about the changes coming in iOS 18 later this year. If you weren’t able to catch the announcements live, Engadget has you covered: here’s everything announced so far at Apple’s iPhone 16 event.

Apple today unveiled the Apple Watch Series 10, the natural predecessor to last year’s Series 9. It has the largest display and thinnest design ever on an Apple Watch, and the wide-angle OLED display is even slightly larger than the one on the Apple Watch Ultra. The body has more rounded corners and a wider aspect ratio, which combined with the larger screen should provide more space for interacting with graphics and text on the watch. Apple claims the screen is 40 percent brighter when viewed from an angle and displays a second hand even when your wrist is down.

The Apple Watch Series 10 is powered by the new S10 SiP, which Apple says is designed for performance, energy efficiency, and intelligence (i.e. Apple Intelligence). One example of the Series 10’s Apple Intelligence is the new Photos watch face, which curates the best photos from your library and automatically makes them available to you.

As for fitness features, Apple has announced that the latest version of watchOS will allow the Series 10 to detect signs of sleep apnea, assuming you regularly wear your Series 10 to sleep. Apple claims it is waiting for FDA approval and expects the sleep apnea detection feature to roll out in more than 150 countries. In the wider activity space, the Series 10 will have dive tracking capabilities and support the new Tides app in watchOS 11.

Another new feature is the ability to play audio directly through the watch’s speaker, which can be helpful if you don’t have AirPods or another pair of Bluetooth earbuds handy. Apple Watch Series 10 will be available in a new polished jet black aluminum finish and a polished titanium finish in silver, gold, and slate gray. It’s available for preorder starting today and will be generally available starting September 20.

Although there have been many rumors about the next generation Apple Watch Ultra, the company did not unveil the third-generation sports watch today. Instead, Apple unveiled a new finish for the Apple Watch Ultra 2: satin black. There are also new Hermes finishes and a new Milanese strap to complement the new satin black finish.
