Anna Sorokin managed to convince hotels, banks and even her friends that she was a German heiress named Anna Delvey until a New York judge saw through her bluff.
Now she has to convince the judges of one of America’s biggest shows that she can dance.

Delvey, as she is called on the show, will work with first-time professional dancer Ezra Sosa.
The 33-year-old was arrested in 2017 and accused of defrauding institutions of more than $250,000 to finance her luxurious lifestyle by posing as the daughter of a German oil executive. She was found guilty in 2019 of charges including grand larceny and theft and sentenced to four to 12 years in prison.

She was only confirmed as a celebrity participant after authorities made her a special offer to travel to Los Angeles and record the series. Since her release from prison in February 2021, she has been under house arrest at her home in New York.
The German-born woman was arrested by immigration authorities after her release from prison for overstaying her visa and spent over a year in ICE custody before being released to plead her case under house arrest.
Under her previous conditions, she could only move within a 70-mile radius of the five boroughs of New York.
The fake heiress will also wear an unwanted accessory: an ankle bracelet, required as part of her house arrest conditions to monitor her movements.
Her fame only grew after her story was picked up in the Netflix hit series Invent Anna.
