Fans of “Wheel of Fortune” criticized the new game show set after Ryan Seacrest replaced former longtime host Pat Sajak.

The popular game show’s toss-up challenges featured the three contestants in separate boxes at the bottom of the screen. In previous episodes, players were presented at the top.

Fans noticed this change and expressed how much they hated the new setup.

Wheel of Fortune viewers have been vocal in their displeasure over the changes to the game show.

“Ryan is ok but I hate the new set,” one viewer shared on a Wheel of Fortune Reddit forum.

“I also hate that when they toss the coin they show the contestants at the bottom. It’s distracting. I just want to see the puzzle! Why do they always feel like they have to change things just because there’s a new presenter?”

“The three boxes were disgusting,” said another comment. “Let the viewer focus on the puzzle!”

“To be honest I won’t watch it because the set is such junk,” one person wrote. “It’s garish, distracting and cheap.”

“Ugly is too nice a word for what they did,” commented another fan.

Seacrest joins longtime “Wheel” co-host Vanna White, who recently extended her contract through the 2025-26 season.

Another Wheel of Fortune viewer chimed in and said, “I agree that the set, despite the nod to the 80s set, still looks like it could be improved. The new toss-up/speed-up lap angles also don’t do it justice…”

Many fans emphasized that they liked Seacrest as a host, but missed Sajak.

“Seacrest is OK, but it will be a while before I stop missing Sajak’s way of chatting with the candidates,” said one comment.

Another fan added: “Ryan is a pretty good host. The new set is too much. I’m not a fan.”

The new reviews for “Wheel of Fortune” came after Seacrest made his first appearance on the game show on Monday night.

Although Seacrest was aware that he had landed an important role, he did not mention Sajak’s name when he opened the show.

After Seacrest and co-host Vanna White were introduced, the new “Wheel of Fortune” host shared his feelings.

“I’m your host, Ryan Seacrest. I still can’t believe my luck to be here with you tonight to continue the legacy of this incredible show with all of you. And of course, my good friend Vanna White,” he said during his monologue.

Sajak and White hosted “Wheel of Fortune” for more than 40 years.

“Thank you for the warm welcome,” Seacrest said. “Hosting ‘Wheel of Fortune’ is a dream job. I’ve been a fan of this show since I was a kid watching it with my family in Atlanta. And I know how special it is that ‘Wheel’ has been in your living rooms for 40 years. And I’m so grateful to have been invited. I also know I have big shoes to fill. So let’s do ‘Wheel of Fortune.'”

Although Seacrest mentioned that he had “big shoes to fill,” Sajak’s name was missing from his introduction.

“Wheel of Fortune” announced that Seacrest will succeed Sajak in June 2023 after the host retires.
