Father confronts burglars in his house

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A Price Hill homeowner is speaking out after a man allegedly broke into his home over the weekend.

When Gavin Robinson arrived home on Sunday, he was greeted by 34-year-old Andrey Jones, who was reportedly in his house while his two-year-old daughter and girlfriend were upstairs.

Robinson says his family had seen Jones before near Price Hill and even helped him when he was in need.

“He knew where we lived, so he would come by, knock on our door, and if he needed something to eat, you know, a burger or something, we would give him a couple of dollars to eat for the evening,” Robinson told FOX19 NOW.

According to court documents, Jones entered Robinson’s home through a very small second-floor bathroom window.

“He was definitely watching us,” the father said. “I don’t think this was an ordeal where you could just jump into the fray. I think there might have been some help behind it.”

The incident was even harder for Robinson and his family, knowing that they had helped Jones in the past when he needed it.

“It does make you a little angry and upset, but I am a person who believes that doing something big is always the right decision, even if it sets you back,” he explained.

Robinson says his family’s safety has always been his top concern, but now he’s taking his role even more seriously.

“Stay armed for the worst case scenario. It’s always best to protect your family,” he said.

To ensure that Jones did not have a weapon on him, Robinson overpowered him and held him there until the police arrived.

The suspect is currently behind bars facing three charges: obstruction of justice, drug possession (a previous charge), and burglary.
