The father of suspected Apalachee High School shooter Colt Gray said in 2023 interrogation transcripts recently released by police that his son was called “gay” by classmates.
Colin Gray, 54, has been charged in connection with Wednesday’s school massacre in Georgia that left two students and two adults dead. Colin Gray, 14, is charged as an adult in the massacre that left four people dead and nine injured.

According to statements made by father Colin Gray in recently released police interrogation transcripts, “(Colt) has been through a lot.”
“(Colt) just wants us to live a simple life. He should be excited about getting into 8th grade. It was just very difficult for him to go to school without being teased, you know, it was going from one to the other, you know, talking to the few friends he has,” Gray said.
In the call, received by Investigator Dan Miller in 2023, 14-year-old Colt was portrayed as someone who was teased and “mocked” by his classmates at Apalachee High School.

“I tried to get him on the golf team… like, ‘Oh, look, Colt is gay. He’s dating this guy.’ And I ridiculed him day after day.”
Georgia is one of 42 states across the country that holds parents criminally responsible for their children.
Authorities alleged Colin knew and gave his son, Colt, access to his firearms in the household before Wednesday’s shooting. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office had visited the Grays’ household several times and flagged the 14-year-old as a suspect in the lead-up to the Apalachee High shooting.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Colin is charged with four counts of manslaughter, two counts of first-degree murder and eight counts of child abuse.
Gray is being held in the Barrow County Jail.
