FBI agents conduct operation at RLL headquarters

FBI agents conduct operation at RLL headquarters

The FBI deployed agents to the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Shop in Zionsville, Indiana, Wednesday morning.

The FBI reportedly instructed RLL employees to leave their computers and related electronic devices in place, pack up their belongings and leave the building while agents began their investigation.

The investigation is said to involve a former employee of the IndyCar team Andretti Global who left the team to take a senior engineering role at RLL, as well as the alleged transfer of intellectual property from his former team to his current one.

“We are cooperating fully with investigators,” the team said in a statement released Wednesday evening. “As this is an ongoing investigation, we are limited in the information we can share at this time, but we intend to provide more information as soon as possible.”

The FBI is also accused of visiting the Andretti shop in August to look for evidence of possible intellectual property violations.

A call to Andretti COO Rob Edwards on Wednesday to inquire about the alleged FBI visit to the team’s garage and whether that visit might be related to today’s FBI appearance at RLL was met with a “no comment.”

This story has been updated to include RLL’s statement.
