Fans expressed their fears for the actress Hayden Panettierein which she claimed she was “slurring” and not sober in a new interview, calling it “exploitative” and demanding that the interview be removed.
Hayden, 35, spoke to People about her daughter Kaya and how the child is her mini-me. The video, shared via Instagram on Wednesday, September 18, set off alarm bells among fans and celebrities alike.
Dancing with the stars per Peta Murgatroyd wrote: “This interview should be removed ASAP!!” and another person added: “Whoever is responsible for publishing this should be questioned immediately.”
One fan said the interview reminded her of the late Anna Nicole Smith. “There should be a law banning interviews and also posting videos of a public figure who is OBVIOUSLY under the influence of something OR just not feeling well. Too bad. Reminds me of Anna Nicole…” the user wrote. Another person told the publication: “Poor Hayden. Obviously not sober. Do better People.”
“Slurred speech, eyes can barely stay open, trying to form long words, clearly not sober. Very sad,” one fan wrote of Hayden with a crying emoji. One angry user left the comment, “This is complete exploitation. This is an addict who is clearly not sober.”
In the interview, Hayden talked about her daughter Kaya, 9, whom she welcomed in 2014 with her former fiancé Wladimir KlitschkoThe duo split up in 2018 and the child moved to Ukraine with his father while Hayden struggled with addiction issues.
“She’s beautiful and she came out just like me. I mean, let’s talk about nature versus nurture. I mean, this little girl literally came out, not only does her face resemble mine, but she’s my personality,” said the former Heroines Star described it, slightly slurring his words and pausing between them.
Hayden spoke about her struggle with opioid and alcohol addiction to People in July 2022.
“I was at the pinnacle of success and I ruined it. I thought I had hit rock bottom, but then this trap door opens,” she described.
The Scream 4 The star said of her abstinence: “It wasn’t easy and there were many ups and downs. But I don’t regret even the worst things that happened to me. I feel incredibly successful. And I feel like I have a second chance.”
In the September 18 issue of PeopleHayden also spoke about the death of her brother Jansen Panettiere in 2023, who died of an undiagnosed heart condition.
“He was my only sibling and it was my job to protect him. When I lost him, it felt like I lost half of my soul,” she told the outlet.
Hayden further described how she got back into shape after rapidly gaining weight due to the “stress and cortisol” her body was exposed to during her grief, which caused the actress to “bloat” and avoid going out in public.
The Amber Alert Star began working with a personal trainer. “My body just started responding, not just from the workout. It allowed me to release the stress, the high expectations I always had for myself,” she explained. “There’s nothing better than looking in the mirror and feeling like you look good enough to walk out the door.”
