The Lufthansa Lounge is officially open to passengers – and it is beautiful. Lufthansa invited several journalists, including Upgraded Points, to tour the modernized lounge. It is easy to see that the lounge has received more than just a simple coat of paint. In fact, Lufthansa invested 10 million dollars in the renovation.

The modernized Lufthansa Lounge is the star of Newark’s Terminal B and brings much-needed warmth and light to the terminal.

“The quality of the entire customer experience on the ground and on board is of utmost importance to us. Therefore, upgrades, modernizations and the introduction of new products are taking place at a rapid pace,” said Dirk Janzen, Vice President Passenger Airlines Sales, The Americas, at the Lufthansa Group.

The renovated Lufthansa Lounge is located in the Newark Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)Terminal B. It is a short walk from the security screening area and is next to the SAS Lounge. This terminal serves as EWR’s main international terminal and many airlines that fly from Terminal B are part of the Star Alliance.

For more than The 600 square meter Lufthansa Lounge comfortably accommodates 165 guestsAccording to the airline, this is a 25% increase in capacity over the previous lounge. This is intended to provide travelers with plenty of space to relax or work and will allow the airline to accommodate its top members.

Lufthansa has slowly but surely delivered the Allegris brand to its customers, but the Airline clarified that this lounge is not part of this launchInstead, it is a refresh of the existing lounge at EWR.

Upgraded Points had the opportunity to sit down with Victoria Schuster, VP of Product & Customer Experience at Lufthansa, to talk about the redesigned lounge, why it is not under the Allegris umbrella and what is planned next for the lounge network.

“We have decided that we will not use Allegris as a means of differentiating our products because we have clear differentiation of our products and our lounge portfolio and have decided that this is not necessary,” Schuster said.

Schuster pointed out that the airline instead used some of Allegri’s trademarks throughout the lounge, such as the wood paneling in the first-class dining area.

Hot tip:

The lounge is open daily from 14:15 to 21:30 to accommodate Star Alliance flights departing Newark at different times of the day.

The equipment

It is clear at first glance that the Lufthansa Lounge is a necessary addition to the dark and gloomy Terminal B. As soon as you enter the lounge, you feel like you have been transported to Frankfurt.

The lounge is bright and airy and features typical Lufthansa features throughout, such as muted colors and modern furnishings.

Lufthansa has obviously designed this lounge for a mix of travelers: business travelers who need to work and leisure travelers who are looking for a space to relax.

One third of the lounge is for business travellers: for anyone who needs to make a quick phone call before a flight or needs a quiet place to work. Here, the lounge offers two small rooms in the style of a telephone booth, a long table with numerous charging sockets and seating that offers some privacy.
