First look at Wizards Beyond Waverly Place revealed

Fans of the popular Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place have reason to celebrate, as a first look at the highly anticipated sequel series Wizards of Waverly Place has been revealed during production. The sneak peek aired during the premiere of Descendants: The Rise of Red and offers viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming series, which is set to premiere on both Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year.

The preview featured never-before-seen footage and BTS moments with the series’ main cast, including David Henrie, who reprises his iconic role as Justin Russo, and Janice LeAnn Brown, who joins the franchise as Billie, a young magician in training. Adding even more excitement, the first episode features a special appearance by Selena Gomez, who not only returns as fan favorite Alex Russo but also serves as an executive producer. Fans were also excited to see David DeLuise back in action as Jerry Russo, the patriarch of the magical Russo family.

Set years after the original series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place follows adult Justin Russo as he navigates life as a normal, mortal father. When his sister Alex shows up and asks him for help with a new wizard named Billie, Justin is forced to return to his magical roots. Balancing his duties as a mentor while maintaining the safety of his family and the secrecy of the wizarding world, Justin embarks on an adventure that will resonate with new viewers and longtime fans alike.

The series boasts an all-star cast: Alkaio Thiele plays Roman Russo, Max Matenko Milo Russo, Taylor Cora Winter and Mimi Gianopulos Giada Russo. The creative team behind the magic includes writers and executive producers Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, as well as Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Gomez and Henrie. The pilot episode, directed by Andy Fickman, who also serves as executive producer, promises the same charm and humor that made the original series a hit.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will captivate viewers later this year on Disney Channel and Disney+.
