The Foo Fighters made it clear that they did not approve of one of their songs being played during a Donald Trump rally in Arizona.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dropped out of the presidential race and the independent politician now supports the former Republican president.
During a rally in Gilbert on the Swing stage, the song “My Hero” was played, and now the band around Dave Grohl is breaking their silence.
“Let’s get this straight,” the band’s social media account posted on X/Twitter.
The band shared a screenshot of an exchange with another X user in which he asked the Foo Fighters if they had given Trump permission to use their song.
“No,” replied the Foo Fighters.
A representative of the Foo Fighters said in a statement to EW“The Foo Fighters were not asked for permission, and if they had been, they would not have given it.” The band also announced that it would donate royalties earned from Trump’s use of the song to Kamala Harris’ campaign.
Earlier this month, Céline Dion’s team also publicly opposed the Trump campaign’s use of the singer’s song “My Heart Will Go On” at a rally.
“Today, Céline Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized use of the video, recording, musical performance and image of Céline Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a Donald Trump/JD Vance campaign rally in Montana,” the August 10 statement said.
“This use is in no way authorized and Céline Dion does not endorse this or any similar use,” the statement continued. “… And really, THIS song?”
