Food trucks in Auburn raise money for the United Way of Lee County

AUBURN, Alabama (WTVM) – The City of Auburn, in partnership with the United Way of Lee County, is hosting a wonderful fundraiser: “Food Truck for United Way.”

The United Way of Lee County reaffirms its commitment to local impact. The initiative is part of a larger campaign that aims to raise nearly $1 million in the final months of 2024.

Reaching the $925,000 goal in just five months underscores the importance of community contributions. Supporting the United Way couldn’t be easier than contributing by enjoying your lunch.

The City of Auburn regularly partners with the United Way of Lee County, and this year the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department is coordinating the placement of food trucks at various locations throughout the city.

“We’re trying to do something different this year by having food trucks in different cities throughout August,” said Gabby Filgo of Auburn Parks & Recreation.

According to official information, 10 percent of every purchase goes to the United Way campaign.

“Every event we do has volunteers, so they are a huge supporter of United Way. We are so blessed to live in a community that has two great cities, Auburn and Opelika, that support what we do. The opportunity to partner with them was insurmountable,” said Kerissa Helms of United Way of Lee County.
