Former FSU football DE suffers Achilles tendon injury

Former Florida State football defensive end Jermaine Johnson II suffered a non-contact Achilles tendon injury during the New York Jets’ game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Johnson, who is in his third year in the NFL, suffered an injury in the third quarter of the Week 2 game. New York immediately sidelined Johnson for the remainder of the game.

He appeared to sustain the injury without physical contact while attempting to sack Tennessee quarterback Will Levis. After Levis ran away, Johnson fell to the ground and sustained the injury without anyone nearby.

Johnson was loaded into the cart and taken to the locker room. Before he was wheeled out, Jets defensive lineman Solomon Thomas came over and hugged Johnson.
