The Green Bay Packers may need reinforcements at the quarterback position. Jordan Love suffered a knee injury at the end of yesterday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

There is no news yet on his status, but the injury looks bad and he could be out for some time.

If Love is out, the Packers could use another quarterback. Malik Willis could currently start, but they could also look at outside options.

CBS Sports recently looked at some quarterbacks who could replace Love if a roster change is needed. They suggested that former New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe could be an option.

“The Western Kentucky product was initially left out of the Patriots’ quarterback room and is now on the practice squad of the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs. Packers fans know a little about Zappe because his first NFL appearance came at Lambeau Field. When 2022 quarterback Brian Hoyer suffered a concussion in a Week 4 game against the Packers, rookie Zappe came in and completed 10 of 15 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown while sending Aaron Rodgers into overtime. Overall, Zappe is 4-4 as a starter and has thrown for 2,053 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. If you’re looking for a younger player with a strong arm that once caught Bill Belichick’s eye, look no further than Zappe.”

Zappe would be an interesting signing for Green Bay. He could overtake Willis as the starter if they signed him.

During his time with the Patriots, Zappe showed flashes of great potential. Unfortunately, he was unable to execute on it consistently and his time with the franchise ended after New England drafted Drake Maye.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the Packers. Hopefully Love’s injury isn’t as bad as it looked, but if it is, Zappe could make sense as a replacement.
