Former NFL player and Boston College graduate Gosder Cherilus was arrested by Massachusetts State Police at Logan Airport on Sunday, authorities said.

Cherlius, who lives in Wakefield, is suspected of urinating on a fellow passenger on a flight to Dublin, state police said in a statement.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday morning, state police said. Delta Airlines diverted the plane and returned it to the gate at Logan after Cherlius allegedly urinated on the passenger, the statement said.

“Delta does not tolerate any illegal behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement in this regard. We apologize to our customers for the delay to their travel,” a Delta spokesperson told Boston.com.

When the plane reached the gate, state police and border patrol officers boarded the plane, state police said. They ordered Cherilus to exit the plane, but he was “angry and uncooperative,” according to state police. Police then removed Cherilus from the plane and arrested him for disorderly conduct and disrupting the flight crew.

The maximum fine for disorderly conduct is $150, but interfering with the flight crew is a felony and can carry up to 20 years in prison. He will be arraigned Monday in East Boston District Court, authorities said.
