Former Patriots star insists on fiery comments from Mac Jones

A former Patriots star made headlines with his comments about Mac Jones and didn’t let that deter him during his appearance on Boston radio on Tuesday.

Rob Ninkovich previewed New England’s prospects for this season, and while he praised the new quarterbacks, he also vented his anger at Mac Jones. During his rant, he threatened to “slap” Jones for his attitude during his three seasons with the Patriots.

Ninkovich received mixed reactions from fans who still support Jones or dislike him after his trade to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The two-time Super Bowl champion appeared on “The Rich Shertenlieb Show” and was promptly asked why he hated Jones.

“I don’t know personally if he does or not. I have no idea,” Ninkovich said, according to co-host Michael Hurley. “I’ve always been critical of everybody. If I watch football and I see there’s bad football or somebody is doing something I don’t agree with, I say something about it. He (Dan O’Brien) says, ‘He doesn’t like you.’ I say, ‘I don’t care.’ Honestly. Can I ask you a question? I’m a 40-year-old man. I’m an adult. If somebody likes me, I don’t care. I have a family and my kids. They love me. If you don’t like me, I don’t care — I don’t care.

“… My father, we call him ‘Captain Insano.’ If there’s ever a problem, you never hit anyone. That’s bad. You can slap someone. It’s not harmful. It doesn’t hurt them. They don’t pass out. It’s just embarrassing, right? I’ve always had this thing for the past few years where if someone has a problem with me, sign this little thing, sign the contract. I’ll give you five fingers and you’ll just feel a rosacea all over your face that you’ve never experienced in your life. And it’ll be a nice slap and it’ll wake you up.”

Jones will not play for Jacksonville unless Trevor Lawrence gets injured, but if the former Patriots quarterback plays this season, he will likely attract a lot of attention from New England fans.
