Former Tennessee Titans quarterback makes Green Bay Packers debut

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback makes Green Bay Packers debut

The Tennessee Titans traded quarterback Malik Willis to the Green Bay Packers, and he had a chance to make his impact on the final two plays of the game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paolo.

With six seconds left, starting quarterback Jordan Love suffered a lower leg injury, prompting Willis to enter the game.

Willis attempted to throw the ball a few yards out of bounds on his first pass, but the pass was incomplete with two seconds remaining on the clock. On the final play, Willis was sacked by Eagles pass rusher Zack Baun, ending any possible comeback attempt by the Packers.

If Love’s injury becomes a problem beyond this week, it could mean Willis gets his first start for the Packers. Willis made three starts in his rookie season for the Titans in 2022, but he did not start a game for the team in 2023.

The Packers will face the Indianapolis Colts at home in Week 2, but things could get interesting if Willis is needed for Week 3.

In Week 3, the Packers travel to Nashville to face the Titans, where Willis may face his former team.

Willis performed well in training camp, but ultimately lost the chance to be Will Levis’ backup to experienced Mason Rudolph, who signed with the team at the beginning of the offseason.

Love could be healthy enough to face the Colts in nine days, and Willis could be back on the bench. But it looks like Willis will need to stay fresh and warm if he plays in the coming weeks.

The Titans’ season begins this weekend against the Packers’ biggest rivals, the Chicago Bears, at Soldier Field in the Windy City.
