Fraudsters caught stealing expensive perfumes from a store in southwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Luxury perfumes and colognes lay scattered on the floor of the Perfumes and I store in southwest Miami-Dade after thieves broke down the front door and looted the perfume boutique shortly after midnight in mid-July.

“They took all my expensive perfume; it was right here on this side,” said owner Jesse Ross.

The crooks were caught on video from a surveillance camera.

They first drove to the mall at the corner of Coral Way and Southwest 137th Avenue, broke open the glass door, crawled inside and loaded up more than $20,000 worth of merchandise, Ross said.

“This one cost about $300 and they took about 16 of this one,” Ross said.

The thieves brought large boxes and filled them with perfume. They managed to escape before police arrived, but Ross said police “responded really quickly, but they were already gone.”

Just seven miles away, near Southwest 82nd Avenue and Bird Road, Ross learned that a few days earlier, another perfume boutique had been robbed by the same criminals, who she believed were the same perpetrators.

A video from the Sadu Luxury Perfumes store shows that the thieves used the same black trash cans, but this time there were four.

They broke through the front door, crawled inside and stole perfumes worth over $30,000, the owner said.

They, too, fled before police arrived, and now business owners like Ross are hoping the suspects will be caught before they strike again.

“It’s sad to see how someone can steal from you – all your hard work,” Ross said.

Miami-Dade police say they are investigating whether there is a connection between the break-ins.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
